This library is the first in the world to be steered by green principles in all facets from design and infrastructure to collection and programming. Created in partnership with City Developments Limited (CDL), this unique eco space facilitates environmental literacy in children.

Forming the centrepiece of the eco library, the striking tree house canopy is constructed with recycled bottles while its steps and surrounding platform are built with recycled timber. Other green features in the library include refurbished book shelves, carpet made from recycled materials and energy-efficient LED lighting.

This interactive installation features a tree that bears fruits that ripen and poses questions on environmental awareness. The questions can be answered using shadow movement. The right answers will nourish the tree and delight the forest creatures. The wrong answers will make the tree wither.

The visual projection on the stump marks the temperature, wind speed and rainfall recorded at the Marina Barrage over a 24-hour period, with an update every five minutes. The colour of the ring shows the temperature, the number in km/h on the white line indicates the wind speed and irregular outlines on the ring represent rainfall.
